Highway 129 is “Nirvana” for motorcycle enthusiasts. Deals Gap offers 311 turns in 11 miles! The Miata and Porsche clubs prefer nearby Cherohala Skyway. This road to nowhere rivals the Blue Ridge Parkway.
Casa Alcoa provides a great base from which to explore the southeastern Appalachian Mountains. However, you may also be inclined to just relax on the screened porch and read a good book.
Located in Thunderbird Mountain Resort, on Highway 129, just north of Robbinsville, NC. It’s a quiet retreat developed in the 1960’s.
Robbinsville provides a grocery store, fresh vegetable market, and a few restaurants. It was featured as a location in the movie “Nell” with Jodi Foster. Our Graham County rescue squad had ‘15 minutes of fame’ in “The Fugitive” with Harrison Ford. That’s the Cheoah Dam Dr. Kimball jumps from.
Santeetlah Marina is a full service marina providing boat launch, fishing license, fuel, bait, dock space, boat and jetski rentals. Link to Santeetlah Marina. Cheoah Point is a lovely picnic area with beach for lake access and public boat launch.
Built in 1965 by an Alcoa Aluminum executive. The owners have had fun incorporating the 60’s retro decor to complement it.
